New tabs close when closing app

Whenever I open a new tab and close the app, when I open it again the new tab has disappeared. I would like this to not happen so I can browse quickly, and I close all apps I’m not currently using to reserve battery life.

To reproduce:

  1. Open new tab and search anything.
  2. Open new tab.
  3. Close app(swipe up off screen after double- clicking home button or swiping white line up).
  4. Open app again.

Expected result:
App opens on new tab
