I don’t know if this is a FB issue or Brave since I can’t find anything on it anywhere. Recently, when I follow a link from FB the FB page refreshes when I return and I lose my place. It happens even if I open the link in a new tab, when I go to the FB tab it refreshes.
Maybe (as in ‘wild guess’) . . . Brave Browser settings:
And use a Brave Browser New Private Window
The idea is, to dampen Facebook’s enthusiasm for rotating cookies.
Good guess. The setting that seems to have fixed it is “Use Google services for push messaging”. I turned that off as in your screen shot, and I can leave FB to follow links with no refresh on return. Thank you!
This is currently driving me NUTS on Facebook! I have turned off all my extensions and the memory-saver function in Brave off and still it happens. I also put my settings the same as the screenshots provided by user 289wk and it still happens. This only started happening in the last month or so. Pls help
Unfortunately this particular functionality is not currently available in the browser. That said, I’m not sure why the the page auto refreshes the way it does. On my end, I’m not seeing this behavior — if I scroll down quite a way in FB and open a link in a tab, then return to the original page, my place is preserved and the page is not refreshed.
I do however believe there are some extensions you can use that have this functionality.
