Description of the issue:
When trying to install Brave, the installer fails and produces an error message.
I have found two simmilar articles:
First article: Windows 7 install fails - "Failed to cache the downloaded installed installer. Error: 0x80070005" message
Second article: New Brave installation update failed on Windows 7 Professional
Unfortunately, neither articles gave me the information I need to resolve the issue.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Download Brave: https://brave.com/download/
- Run downloaded installer: (BraveBrowserSetup.exe)
Actual Result:
It almost finishes downloading, then fails giving me the following error message:
Failed to cache the downloaded installer. Error: 0x80070005.
Exact representation here: Windows 7 install fails - "Failed to cache the downloaded installed installer. Error: 0x80070005" message
Expected result:
The setup wizard finishing successfully and asking me if I want to run Brave.
Reproduces how often:
The same result has happened more than twelve times so far.
Operating System and Brave Version:
Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit | Brave 64-bit Version 1.3.99.0
Additional Information:
The installer connects to the internet, begins downloading, the progress goes pretty fast (only takes like six seconds), and says download complete before displaying the error message.
I do not currently have anti-virus/malware software.
My computer seems to be clean of malware/adware/spyware/trojans/viruses etc.
So far I have tried:
•Redownloading the installer.
•Unblocking the installer (Right click, Properties >Unblock).
•Running the installer as administrator.
•Running the installer in compatability mode.
Additional Questions:
• What does caching the downloaded installer mean?
