How will AI be used by Brave in search results?

I’m not sure if this is the right forum for this question but it’s the only one I could find. I like the brave browser and search engine a lot but I’m wondering about your use of AI.

Since AI search results are based on information that exists across the internet, I’m wondering how new and/or maybe controversial information will be incorporated into the AI response. We saw a lot of this in the last few years when information that turned out to be true was initially labeled as misinformation. How will the brave search engine handle this to ensure that people have all the information?

Thank you.

Leo (Brave’s AI) when used in conjunction with Brave Search is simply pulling information from other websites and generating an answer to your query based on that information.

Just like all search results, or research, or information gathering of any kind, it is ultimately up to the reader to verify that what they are reading is factual.

Thank you. I was hoping that, given your stance on privacy, your policy would be to include this information in your AI response.

I did a few tests on covid and the vaccine and found that your AI results are in line with the major narratives in the country. There is some mention of what is called misinformation but the AI response certainly leaves the user believing that the vaccines don’t have much risk in causing harm. The actual numbers are much higher than any other vaccine in history.

The response also mentions that the vaccines were tested on millions - the CDC data doesn’t even support this… If you do some research I think you would find that the testing was minimal. Unless you want to include the vaccines that were given out to everyone.

This was certainly not what I was hoping for. Unfortunately, people will be terribly misinformed over time as AI search engines forward major narratives. If AI had been around when people started believing the world was round, we probably would still believe it’s flat. I wish I could believe differently but I am pretty sure this will be used as a major propaganda tool in the future. I hope you’ll consider trying to ensure that doesn’t happen at least on your site.
