How to remove an extension without launching browser?

I installed an extension (I will link it below), anyway I cant use brave browser anymore, but I can use in in private mode without extensions. If someone can please walk me through the steps to remove/uninstall that particular extension, without launching the browser, would be much appreciated.

Hello @joe101, thank you for reaching us out. Could you tell me what extension are you talking about? I could not open the link either Chrome and Brave. Necessarily we need to open the Browser to remove extensions > going to Menu → More tools → Extensions Click on to the extension you want to remove, click Remove.

@joe101,
If you can’t launch the browser (or whatever reason), you can go to your User data folder on your Windows system and find the folder that holds that extension and delete it. You’ll note the crazy string of letters at the end of the link you just shared above — that will be the name of the folder you’re looking to delete.

So on your Windows system, go to ~/App Data/Local/Brave Software/Brave-Browser/User data/Default/Extensions) and you should see a folder labeled ncajkioiheokbabnibdjihgofjagapnc. Simply delete that folder and you should be good to go.

The folder was there and I deleted it, but does not seem to fix the issue, even after restarting. Basically when I open brave its just a plain white window. The issue happened the exact moment I installed that extension.

@joe101,
Apologies — I didn’t realize that that was part of the issue. Can you please try launching a private browsing window, then going to Menu --> Create new profile? I’d like to test and ensure that the issue is isolated to your browser profile and not an issue with the browser itself.

Thank you

I got it to work, I deleted “ncajkioiheokbabnibdjihgofjagapnc” from the registry, then, upon launching brave, avoided clicking on restoring my tabs (that is when it turned all white), instead clicked extensions and removed the bad extension from brave. closed brave, re opened and smashed shift+ctrl t until all tabs were restored. thanks for pointing me in the right direction towards getting this resolved fast!
