I recently created a Brave Wallet. When I try to open it, it says incorrect password. Though not true, there was also a “restore” option, which I then selected.
That opened a page with a field in which I was prompted to “paste recovery phrase from clipboard”. I didn’t save the 12 words to a clipboard as I’m under the impression they should not be stored on the computer. So I manually entered them sequentially, with a comma and space after each one. This resulted in the message, “The recovery phrase entered is invalid”. I then tried stringing all 12 words together with no commas or spaces. That was also unsuccessful. And I tried a few other variations with the same result.
Is there a specific format I need to use to enter the 12 words? What am I missing?
I’m running Brave
Version 1.67.134 Chromium: 126.0.6478.186 (Official Build) (x86_64) with Mac OS Monterrey
Yes I tried that and it didn’t work either. I think there’s a clue, in that the field for entering my recovery phrase, says “paste recovery phrase from clipbaord”, rather than something like enter your recovery phrase, but…I don’t know what clipboard is being referred to or how to enter the recovery phrase into it. The good news is that I hadn’t put any $ in this account (since I couldn’t even get back in after creating it)
You could try typing the phrase into the address bar in a new tab making sure its lower case and spaces seperating each word. Dont hit enter but instead select it and copy it. Then try pasting into the box on the recovery page.
I think I figured it out. In Brave’s preferences I had the page zoom set to more than 100%. Thus, when I thought I was setting up the wallet, though it took my password and gave me the 12 words, there was another step to complete (something simple like clicking an x to close the window or something like that), but I didn’t see it due to my enlarged screen.
I arrived at this conclusion because since I had no funds in the account, and I read a post indicating I could reset the wallet (sorry not remembering the exact term, but is close), I did that. Because I’d eliminated the zoom of my screen for something else, I noticed this time it ended differently, and that I could actually see my wallet. Anyway, now it’s all fine. Thanks for your input.
Sorry, in spite of my long windedness I forgot to mention the main point. I think when I thought I set up the wallet in the beginning that I never actually completed the process - ergo incorrect password and phrase.
