How to backup/export settings and custom search engines on Brave for macOS?

How can I backup/export my Brave settings, especially my custom search engines? And how would I go about importing them after a clean install?

Or is that not possible? If so, than please consider this a feature request

(I’m using Brave desktop browser v 0.69.135 on macOS 10.15)

Thanks for your advice @merlaux – the post that you linked seems to deal with Brave for Windows though. On a Mac, the path to the Web Data file is of course different. I looked around for a while and I think I found it (in case other users are wondering, too):

~/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default/Web Data

I followed the steps outlined in that post and now have a csv file with my search engines

That sounds interesting! How do I set up such an account? Could you please point me in the right direction?

@joschaf So actually you can use sync across all devices for brave. Menu--> Sync--Add device This will transfer your bookmarks and other settings are being added to sync. I will get back with you on your question about custom search engines for mac. Apologies for not catching the article for Windows.

@joschaf This issue is an open ticket for sync. The dev team is working on an option in sync to capture all user settings and transfer to each device. Currently sync only supports bookmarks. Custom search engines also have an open PR but it is on the bottom of the features list to be added. Based on demand.

@merlaux Thank you for looking into it. :+1: I’ll try setting up Sync then.
