Hello Brave team,
I’ve noticed a functionality gap between Brave Shields and uBlock Origin when it comes to Facebook ads. While uBlock Origin successfully blocks sponsored posts and ads on Facebook, Brave Shields currently doesn’t provide this coverage out of the box.
Device Information:
- Browser: Brave Browser (latest version)
- Platform: Desktop
- Operating System: Linux
What I’m experiencing:
- Sponsored posts and ads remain visible on Facebook while using Brave Shields
- The same content is successfully blocked when using uBlock Origin (also on brave with shields turned off)
Expected behavior:
- Brave Shields should block Facebook sponsored posts and ads by default, similar to uBlock Origin’s functionality
- This would align with Brave’s commitment to providing robust ad-blocking capabilities out of the box
This enhancement would:
- Improve user experience by reducing unwanted content
- Strengthen Brave’s position as a privacy-focused browser
- Reduce the need for additional extensions
Has this been considered before? I believe many users would benefit from having this functionality built into Brave Shields.
