Brave Nigthly is supposed to randomiza canvas, WebGL etc, according to this post: https://brave.com/whats-brave-done-for-my-privacy-lately-episode3/
My shield is set as “fingerprinting attempts blocked”, but it gives same values everytime.
Device: Notebook, Windows 10
Brave Version 1.8.3 Chromium: 80.0.3987.132 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit)
Hi @kadir
When using Brave Nightly, what site are you using test fingerprinting, is it https://fingerprintjs.com/demo
?
And when you go to the site, are you visiting it in a normal window or a private window?
Are you quitting and restarting Brave Nightly before each test?
I tested it in https://browserleaks.com/. I can’t use fingerprintjs, ıt says nothing. For 2 days, I have tested many times in normal and private tab.
Restarting and closing browser and shields doesn’t make change.
@kadir are you clearing the cache via restart or manually?
Yes. I also try with new user profiles, all gave same results in www.browserleaks.com/canvas
Sorry, I have just used panopticlick.eff.org and it says canvas, WebGL and audio randomized by first party domain. Thank you.
You’re most welcome!
@Aa-ron @kadir Brave Nightly Version 1.9.2 Chromium: 81.0.4044.83 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit) continues to fail testing @ https://browserleaks.com/canvas.
Brave stable version passes
This is an important feature for users who rely on built-in protection and deserves a prompt fix, but I know you folks are working under difficult conditions.
Hello all, I wanted to let you know, we’ve recently worked with the EFF to update Panopticlick. Panopticlick’s results now correctly reflect Brave’s privacy protections. The site will now show desktop and Android Brave users that they have a very high level of privacy protection. We’re currently working to enable these protections for iOS users too.
Go to https://panopticlick.eff.org/ and test it out.
Thanks for the update @Aa-ron!
