Brave lost all my open tabs

Brave crashed; I pressed restore tabs; it didn’t do work and I lost hundreds of open tabs going back years. This was on Mac OS. Same thing happened on IOS about a month ago. Just adding my voice to a dozen other people already on here complaining about this already known issue going back years, without remedy.

Everybody who expects to recover their data, must routinely back up and safely store their data. That is always going to require faithful duty, labor, planning, and time.

Tabs - save as bookmarks in a “Tabs” folder, somewhere in the bookmarks folder structure. And thereby, when routinely backing up bookmarks, the Tabs are also backed up.

How to Back Up Passwords that are stored by Brave Browser

Scrolling down the webpage at:

https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018185951-How-do-I-use-the-built-in-password-manager

A note states:

Export Passwords - Selecting Download file will export all credentials you’ve saved in your browser as a .CSV file onto your system. Note that anyone who has access to your system will be able to open and view this file, so it is recommended that you delete this file once you’ve used the file for its intended purpose.”

In order to encrypt that .CSV file:

And be sure to copy that compressed and encrypted file, to an external drive that you safely store.

How to manually back up your Bookmarks as an HTML file

Two ways to get to the Bookmarks Manager.

One way:

  1. Launch Brave and open the Main menu: newmenuicon.png
  2. Select Bookmarks --> Bookmarks Manager
  3. Open the More options menu at the top right
  4. Select Export and choose where you want to store the exported file.

Another way:

  1. In a new Brave Browser window, go to: brave://bookmarks
  2. Locate the “Organize” (vertically-arrayed 3-dot) menu button in the upper-right area of the window; click on that
  3. You should get a pop-up menu, in which you click on the “Export bookmarks” selection and choose where you want to store the exported file.

The exported file name: “bookmarks.html”

Be sure to store a copy on an external drive.

In addition, you might use GoodSync for backups.

I want to add that I’ve been losing tabs regularly on my iPad with Brave updates. I’m very tired of this experience myself and would like a solution to this historic problem. I don’t understand why we can’t save open tabs automatically along with the synchronization of the tabs between browsers. With Vivaldi I’m able to save open tabs to a file that I can use to easily restore my tabs. Please create Singer way to save tabs. I’ve programmed since a young age and I believe saving a list of open tabs should be a simple task to integrate into the software. It’s just a list of links that you can easily open after a crash or reinstallation. Come on guys, I know you can do it. I would be ashamed that after years of complaints, that a solution can’t be realized.
