Brave browser download save as opens only full screen

Description of the issue:
Brave browser V1.19.86 / Chrm 88.0.4324.96 64bit
Download save as location pop-up window only opens in full screen. There is a size-window drag indicator - bottom right of screen - but it does not work. No way to resize save as window.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary).
1 - when downloading in brave - on save as - make the save as window “full screen” save.
2 - Now do another download save as and the window will automatically be “full screen” and the size window drab indicator ( bottom right ) is non-functional.
3 - So from now on - the brave save as window will always be full screen!
Tried settings - reset settings - no change
Tried full uninstall delete all, deleted brave settings under program files, userprofile/appdata/local
no change - save as window still full screen.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

Expected result:
Would expect to be able to re-size the save as window pop-up so that it is not always full screen

Reproduces how often:
Once you select full screen - the save as window will always be full screen

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Windows 10 V1909

Additional Information:
if there is a brave:// “option” or chrome:// “option” of some type that will correct this - happy to fix it that way, just want to fix the full size window issue.

@ascdew,
Would it be possible for you to share a screenshot of the behavior as you see it on your end?

Please review attached screen shots:
1 - initial webpage to download an exe file - click on the 64 bit version
2 - save as window pops-up as full screen - you can see the resize windows drag option - bottom right. Does not work. When you click and drag it does nothing and disappears as an option - see next screen shot
3 - after trying to drag / resize from the bottom right corner - drag indicator disappears

I sent several screen shots as jpg’s in reply. Essentially once the save as window opens in full screen mode - and you click and try to drag/resize the window (bottom right) - the window does not resize and the drag icons in the corner disappear.

Let me know if the images did not come through, I will try to resend them.

@ascdew,
That’s very strange behavior indeed. First, can you confirm for me that this only happens in Brave and not in other browsers? Additionally, can you tell me what extensions you have installed (if any) at this time?

Hey Mattches:

I use and test with chromium browser based:
Vivaldi
Microsoft Edge
both work fine - the download save as pop-up is a window and the resize drag corner works fine.

I also use Chrome and Firefox - both of those work similarly, no issues with the pop-up save as window.

Let me know what else I can provide to help with resolution?

David

@ascdew Try double clicking window frame of “save as” window. Double clicking works like “restore down button”

Hey, good tip, I will give that a try and report back the results.

Thanks

Success - double clicking on the top window bar did work and put it back into window mode! Thanks much!

@Annonymous nice suggestion.
@ascdew – can you confirm that if you go to download another file that the Save as... prompt appears at the correct size?

Hey Mattches:

Yes - after the double-click on the full screen save as window reduced it back to a “true” window, I closed and relaunched it several times, and each time the save as windows is truly a window! So Annonymous rocked the solution.

As a developer, my concerns are:
1 - how did I manage to get the save-as window into “full-screen” mode? I am not afraid of the chinky-pox, so I have been doing consult work at a lot of different places and sometimes the ‘additional’ monitor provided is much smaller than I normally work on, so my guess is perhaps opening the save-as window on a smaller screen forced it into “full screen” mode? Just a guess though. I do know that I tried on all my browsers to get the save-as windows to go into full screen mode, and I could not duplicate that. The next time I am at that site, I have a note to try it again, as I don’t have any external monitors that I can set the resolution that small.

2 - It does explain why the bottom right corner drag icon did not work as it normally shouldn’t in full screen mode under typical UI design. Of course the save-as window, does not typically have a window/full screen option in the top right, so it’s an interesting UI issue.

Thanks again for the help on fixing this.
