Brave app search bar closes and deletes search term

It might be a keyboard issue, im using openboard open source android keyboard, but i just tried it with gboard and it happened too.

This issue has been happening for some months, I was hoping it would get fixed without my input, but on further inquiery no other users seem to have this issue.

Steps it takes for me to have the issue:

1. Open brave
2. Click search bar
3. On spacebar, enter and shift presses there is a chance for the search bar to close and delete all my previous input. The slower i type the less chance that this happens.

This does not happen with the search bar of any website, and it does not happen when typing in webadresses, tho that might be because they dont require spacebar

On further experimentation, when searching for a url this does not happen with spacebar, even when space is put between.

Enter still closes the search 100% of the time

Spacebar closes the search with 40% of the time when trying to search in brave search

And this might be important: im using brave search with brave app
