My config: Brave 1.77.101 with Chrome 135.0.7049.115, Windows 10 Home x64 22H2
Although bookmarks were imported to Brave from Firefox, none of the bookmarks in Brave have keywords. There are keywords in the bookmarks stored in Firefox.
Keywords are very handy in Firefox. I can, for example, define a bookmark with a URL to Wikipedia and add the “wiki” keyword. I can call the bookmark in the address bar using its keyword, like “wiki topicstring”. I could do an Amazon search by entering “amaz productname” in the address bar. All of that is absent in Brave.
I can define search engines in Brave similar to how I had to do it in Edge, like add a search engine with URL of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=%s for Wikipedia, with a shortcut of wiki, and enter “wiki topicstring” in the address bar.
Brave does not import search engines from Edge where I already had to go through defining each added search engine to compensate for the lack of keywords in bookmarks. For the 36 search engines I defined in Edge, I had to manually define each of the same 36 search engines in Brave. What a pain.
Keywords in bookmarks would be preferred, and easier to manage and maintain. However, it would’ve been convenient when starting to use Brave if it included importing the search engines defined in Edge.
