I think the app would look much better if a few things were done to the bookmark bar, similar to Safari, actually:

  1. Replace the dated folder icons with simple arrows to indicate sub-items. This will use up less real estate and simplify the design by reducing clutter.
  2. Provide an option to remove page icons, for the same reasons as above.
  3. (Maybe) Center the bookmarks horizontally (when the “wide address bar” option is disabled), to better-align with the rest of the browser chrome and avoid the awkward center-to-left shifting with the UI elements.

I recently switched to Brave now that the UI is nicer-looking, but the bookmark bar still looks like a remnant of an old 2000’s browser that adds more clutter to the design than is necessary.

That looks good, but the request might be better directed towards the Chromium project which Brave inherits from, as it looks like this component is unchanged by the Brave developers.

Maybe I’m wrong, but it looks to me like the basic bookmark bar functionality and layouts are inherited from Chromium, but the styling is modified. The folder icons, at least, do not match the nightly Chromium build.
