Almost all Japanese old websites display broken on search results

Hi Brave Community!

I firstly appreciate that Brave Search implemented the great function of Goggles. I recently created and uploaded a custom goggle which makes the search results show Japanese old and simple websites only. While I’m satisfying with the goggled results, I encountered a critical issue that almost all the links and descriptions on the pages have been totally displayed broken.

Here are the screenshots of several search engines’ results when I used the Site Search Operator with a particular domain that is indexed in my goggle.

I don’t know how Brave crawls and indexes the web, but I guess the problem is come from the difference of character encodings because Japanese old websites used to encode their web pages with Shift_JIS over UTF-8. I hope some of experts will investigate and solve this issue.

Thank you so much for reporting Brave Search issue. I’ll share this issue to the search team and they’ll investigate it very soon.

BTW, you can share anonymous feedback from search result page and it would be very helpful.
