I have to click 2-20+ times to save a password, address or other details that I would like Brave to save. At times it wont save and I have to click on the main icon like the key or the 2 circle line etc to close the option and click on it again for the option to save and then I can click it a few more times to save the details.
Brave v1.73.91
This consistently happens on my Desktop primarily when I have the account “Synchronised” and occurs on an existing PC and a New (ie. Brand spaking new hardware and all) and formatted Windows PC with the latest Brave versions 1.7.
When I stop the sync and reset Brave, works perfectly. Single click and its save. But as soon as I sync it - I get this problem again.
This is highly annoying as most times I excessively click and then I click on the bookmark or a web link through my obessive over-clicking habit to save.
Yes I did the Reset - however by clicking on the Settings > Reset Settings
I also deleted everything in %localappdata%\BraveSoftware
However in the last 12 hours that I had tested, I only had to click it twice for passwords. Although I know it was an issue on my new PC as that was fresh with 1.73.91 to which I am replying this from.
The only thing I did differently is that I had reset the settings from my old desktop twice.
It appears I cannot replicate my problem anymore. I will continue testing and will update should it occur again.
Here is an example I just did - pressed “Never” about 15-20 times and would not disappear. Created this snip and pressed Never and it was recognised immedaitely and disappeared.
I have nocticed that there seems to be a delay - when the popup appears (recently address saving) if you click furiously like I do for either option, nothing happens. But after (neurotic twitches starting ) waiting 10 seconds then you can press either option with immedaite effect.
When it happens next I will wait the 10 before doing anything else.
Very very strange issue here. Not sure why Sync would have any affect on these actions. I can’t seem to reproduce on my end on Windows or macOS @289wk were you able to reproduce this issue?
Ive worked around the issue by just waiting 15-20 seconds before pressing anything and it will register.
If there is anything I can send through - Id be happy to try and help debug this annoying issue. But by the sounds of it, may not be feasible as I am the only person affected.
So I guess just close this case unless someone else also has the same problem.
I am not currently able to use (borrow) a Windows OS machine for testing this particular issue. And, I do not have a qualified, other, computing device, that I can use for Brave Sync - between two computing devices. Sorry.
Even when you made your reply and the popup to ask “Allow Notification”, I clicked on allow 6 times and that didnt work, waited 5 seconds, then it allowed.
Some of the troubles reported here, at Brave Community, are thought to be: “It’s the Brave Browser.”
But a lack of understanding websites’ control over their part of what I call, “tossing the ball around,” where the webserver tends to dominate (for security reasons) in regard to expectations of when it should get a response from the visitor’s browser . . . leaves Internet browser users to conclude that the browser is frustrating the activities.
Meaning, here, that a part of the game, is what I call “timing and scoring” - often the split second in which a webserver decides that there has been a “failure to communicate” as expected.
IOW, difficult to confirm, which is at fault:
browser
network
webserver
or some combination.
Lately, I have had a lot of trouble connecting to Amazon.com; but trying again, 5 - 20 seconds later, works. Yet a new member of the Brave Community, would report that as a bug. When, my view is: “it happens.”
Completely understand where you are coming from - however given in “my” scenario, it happens across many webservers (including this forum) at various times (Im in AU, so web traffic should be low compared to US time zone) and it impacts numerous scenarios majority of the time.
This issue does not occur when I was using Chrome Browser or where I dont sync an account, however from memory I started noticing about 6 months ago.
However this issue is directly related to all the pop-ups related to Addresses, Passwords, Notifications etc and therefore in my scenario i beleive it is related to the Brave browser as it also impacts my older PC.
