Search Bar Calculator Suggestion Wrong

Description of the issue:

The search suggestions no longer contain the full calculation unless it’s very simple.
It is used to show the correct result even for decently long calculations.

How can this issue be reproduced?

1. Use the Google search bar (it’s the only one with these kinds of suggestions among the default search engines from Brave)
2. try adding two 4-digit numbers e.g. 1700 + 1800 in the search bar

Expected result:

Show the correct result in the suggestion without having to go through with the search

Hello! I’m moved from edge to brave and face a problem with calculations in search bar. There is some strange limit of 7 symbols, after them calculations doesn’t work. I am not entirely sure what the issue here is. Both of the users reporting say that the search calculation doesn’t work unless it is simple. Yet both of them show screenshots of the calculation in the search bar providing the answer.

When testing myself, if I enter 1700 + 1800 in the address bar, I get:

I see that it is working as intended for you.
Are you on the same brave version as I am? ( 1.75.178 Chromium: 133.0.6943.98 (Official Build) (64-bit) )
What operating system are you on? I’m on Windows 11. So if you are on Linux, maybe its an issue for Brave on Windows only.

So I’m seeing some strange results on Win10.

If I set my default search to Google and enter the equation it gives me a bunch of weird answers and in this particular instance, one of them is correct (second one) but you would expect the very top one to be correct:

If I use the shortcut :g in the address bar to search using Google, the answers change and the top-most answer is the correct one:

I’ll have to do some digging on this as I’m not sure what would cause the discrepancy between search methods.

@Mattches I have Google as my default search. I don’t get as many listings are you did on my Windows 11 Pro which is running Brave 1.75.181. Guess just pointing out as I thought it’s weird how you have more results showing…not sure what has to be changed for that.

Also checked and same on Nightly.

But you are right using the :g shortcut seems to make it work properly.

:g also works for me; it’s a decent workaround. It is weird that the normal search is different.
