I apparently have a passkey saved to the Brave browser and would like to delete it.
This is regarding Android devices specifically but the issue might be similar on other platforms.
I would have to assume this would be reproduced by:
Apparently having a passkey saved to the browser.
Go to the website that a passkey is stored for
Click the login username box or password box to automatically bring up the login with passkey option.
Expected result:
Go to password manager in Brave browser, find the stored passkey, and delete it.
Additional Information:
I do not use passkeys at all. I make sure to not save them. I do not know why or how this got saved. Probably fat fingered something on accident, would have to be the most logical reason. That and/or not paying attention and again accidentally clicked. I feel that I would have attempted removal immediately if I was aware of it and I only noticed it today when I went to a website to login and when I clicked the box for username the stored passkey showed up. Went to remove it, and its not listed.
Hello - To confirm, when you visit the Brave Password Manager within Brave settings you do not see it available? If not, have you checked the Android OS Passkey settings?
I do not even know where the passkeys section is to be honest. Like I said I do not use passkeys. Don’t want to use them. So any passkeys that are saved, I must have accidentally clicked yes when a popup asked if i wanted to use them. I would have never knowingly accepted.
I will take a look in the Android settings for a passkey but there shouldn’t be anything there. If there is I just delete that and then everything should be good again correct?
I do not use passkeys for anything (intentionally). I always deny whenever the option is presented to me.
When I check in Brave password manager there is nothing there regarding anything passkey wise. There are a few throw away account passwords that Ive stored there for speed.
This also brings up another question that I have regarding passwords. I do have them set to sync between devices. I have about 4 devices and there are almost NONE of the same accounts and passwords on them. If there is login name and passwords that are the same between my brave browsers, it is because I manually added them. I mostly just quickly created another account on whatever service i wanted to login to because none of the passwords have synchronized. Any insights into that would also be appreciated.
There is no rush. These issues are not anywhere near critical or even to the point of frustrating. The password sync was a little bit of a bummer and I am more curious as to why that didnt sync than anything because I specifically made a bunch of accounts that i was going to use across my brave browsers only and then when i went to go and actually use them NOT EVEN 1 login was there for any of them.
