The Brave referral program launched in February 2018. Over the last 3 years we have been immensely grateful and humbled that so many participated.
We owe a huge thanks to our incredible community. Your support helped drive Brave to over 20M monthly active users, building momentum towards a web that respects users. As Brave enters a new stage, we must constantly reevaluate and adapt in order to fulfill our mission of a privacy first Internet.
Effective as of November 9th, 2020, we will begin to wind-down the current referral program. Creators using the Brave referral program have 14 days to wrap up their Brave promotional activity. Creators not using the referral program will experience no change.
What does this mean for first opens, confirmations, and payouts?
- After November 23rd, referrals (first opens) driven by referrers will no longer be eligible for payout.
- Brave will pay out on confirmations that occur before December 24th. A confirmation is a 30 day active user of Brave.
- Final payments for December confirmations will be made in early January 2021.
The current referral program has exceeded its goal by 13x. Now we are planning a new referral program adapted to our scale and to our community. We hope to share details in early 2021. In the interim, and to facilitate the transition, a select number of referrers will assist Brave.
What started with a goal of distributing $1 million in BAT has grown to deliver more than thirteen times our expectations. To date, more than $13 million in BAT has been distributed via the referral program. Thank you for supporting Brave on this journey. We are immensely grateful.
