Lazada login error - Verify the CSRF token failed

Windows 11 x64 Version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.3235)
Brave Version 1.63.165 Chromium: 122.0.6261.94 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Description of the issue:
This version cannot login to Lazada website, it stuck at error message “Verify the CSRF token failed” but it is fine if login from other latest version of browsers like Microsoft Edge, FireFox.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open Lazada at https://www.lazada.com.my/
  2. Create an account there.
  3. Click the upper right “Login” option.

Expected result:
It should be able to access to your registered account.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.63.165 Chromium: 122.0.6261.94 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
I have cleared cache, but the login result still with the same error.

Wanting to test, but I don’t have a Malaysian SMS. Can you create a dummy account? and DM me the details?

@rickygai While Fanboynz and others are trying to figure out some options for you, would you mind trying some of the basic troubleshooting steps to see if any of it makes a difference? Each step is separate and testing different things. Try each and see if you still get the same issue

  1. Disable Shields

  2. Open in Private window.

  3. Add a new profile (second browser profile. Hamburger menu → More Tools → Add new profile) and test there without changing settings or adding extensions.

  4. Do you have any custom content filters for Shields? Or have you ever changed anything at brave://flags? If so, those things persist across profiles. Might want to revert to default and test just in case is an issue.

  5. If none of the above had an impact, would ask you to try on Brave Beta or Brave Nightly.

  6. Lastly, if all has failed, could you try on Chrome? I know some of the Support prefer testing on Chrome as it’s closer to Chromium base than Edge and all. This would be a final test on figuring out if it’s anything in Chromium or if it is indeed a Brave and Lazada issue.

1-2: it works on Private Window either with shields enable or disable.

3: it is working on new profile, new browser page but not the existing one.

4: no custom filters or brave://flags adjusting.

5: not try yet.

6: Chrome Version 122.0.6261.95 (Official Build) (64-bit) is working fine with Lazada login.

@rickygai Was supposed to be tried as separate steps. Does disabling Shields on normal profile make a differencce? If so, then it tells us your Shields settings are blocking something, such as cookies, which is preventing it from working.

If disabling Shields on your normal profile doesn’t matter but opening it on private window and/or new profile as you did works, then it tells us that it’s likely cookies or an extension. You had mentioned clearing cookies, which would narrow down things to saying you have an extension that is interfering with the site.

I double checked, all plugins are disabled, result still the same.

However, when I clicked on reference link of items ordered via the Lazada email, it is able to login as usual.

Later, I set to clear “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files” from the settings > Clear browsing data dialog like below,

This solved the login problem, I noticed the login no longer a pop up dialog asking to input, instead another new credential login page ( not pop up dialog box ).
