Keeping tbs in the browser

I like to keep several tabs open in my Chrome browser, but want to change to Brave.
How can I keep the tabs open in Brave, please?
Also, how do I add new tabs?
Thank you.
Bob

@Foxleybob,
While most of your other data can be imported into Brave from Chrome, I do not think open tabs can be imported:

One way around this (kind of) would be to right-click on the tab bar in Chrome and select Bookmark all tabs and save them to a specific folder in Chrome. Then, import all your browsing data into Brave and, once complete, right-click on the folder you saved all your open tabs to (in Brave) and select Open all from the context menu:

iNtresting Thank you.
But to be honest it wasn’t what I wanted (probably cause I didn’t explain properly :upside_down_face:
I simply would like to use Brave and add a new (any) tab to it, keeping it open (like in Chrome) but i guess it can’t be done.
Also, I couldn’t see how to open a tab next to the one I had open already.
I do hope that’s a better description?
And many thanks again.
Bob

@Foxleybob,
It sounds like you want to be able to import everything into Brave, open it, and then have it more or less in the same exact state (with all the tabs you had open) you had Chrome in. Again, this is not possible as you cannot import “open” tabs into the Brave in this way.

You can do this by right-clicking on the tab you have open, then selecting Open new tab to the right from the context menu:

Great, if I can get several new tabs then I can copy and paste the url into brave.
But how can I keep them there, if possible?
Thank you.

Can you please elaborate? I’m not sure I understand what you mean.

Once you have some numbers of tabs opened, go to Settings --> Get started and ensure you have Continue where you left off set so that when you close the browser, it opens those same tabs you had open previously:

Basecally, I’d like several tabs lined up together that I use mostly;y, If that is possible.?

Basically, I’d like several tabs lined up together that I use mostly. If that is possible.?

this looks an easy way to get more tabs, but (yes, another but lol)Where do I right-click on the tab, please?
i tried right-clicking in several places on the tab, but no New tab to the right showing.
this is getting to be a pain. Sorry.

Then open the tabs in the browser, set the browser to Continue where you left off as mentioned above, and that’s it. The next time you open your browser, those tabs will be open again, in the same order you left them in, just like in all browsers.

Lets pretend these were the sites you used mostly and wanted to make sure they were always there when you opened the browser:

If you select Continue where you left off in Get started as instructed, as long as these tabs were opened when you close the browser, they will be open when you launch it again.

Alternatively, you could select Open a specific set of pages in that same menu and specify the exact sites you want opened when you launch the browser — that way they wouldn’t even have to be open when the browser was closed:

OR you could pin those tabs in the browser by right clicking on them(and select Continue where you left off):

Or you can add them to a specific group by right-clicking on them and selecting Add tab to new group:

Or you can put them as your favorites on the new tab page:

Or as bookmarks on the bookmarks bar so they can be easily accessed:

There are many ways to organize and save your tabs in the browser — chose the one that is best for you. Note that you can also drag and rearrange tabs in the tab strip at anytime.

Lastly:

It should be very easy to see after right-clicking on any tab — it is the very first option at the top of the context menu. In the image below, I clicked right in the middle of the tab but you can click literally anywhere on any tab:

Erm, you say open tabs in the browser I guess you mean “Brave” right?
In that case, I cannot find how to get new tabs that will be next to each other as is in Chrome and Edge :frowning:
I really am grateful for the help you are trying to give me, and sorry I cannot get it right…I’m sure it’ll be something simple in the end, but I just cannot see where to add a new tab to the right of the tab/page I am on. There is no + sign as advised to me elsewhere afraid

To add…
I have tried the right-click on the only tab I have open (Google Mail), and there isn’t the screenshot you show to Add new Tab to group afraid. (phew!!! :D)

Can you please share a screenshot of the browser as it appears on your end? Can you also tell me what OS you’re using at this time?

Thank you

I’m using Windows 10 Pro
sorry about the screenshot being small & doubled screen, I’m not too good with it. lol

One thing I have noticed it that when I close Brave, it asks me if I want to close all my tabs. I didn’t know I had any tabs in Brave.

@Foxleybob,
I have gone ahead and deleted the image due to it sharing sensitive information.

That said, the reason you do not see Open new tab to the right in the context menu is. because you have the Vertical tabs option enabled:

As the name implies, this setting will display your tabs vertically on the page. If you right-click on a tab, you’ll instead see New tab below instead of New tab to the right, since it can’t open a tab to the right:

image

You can change this by going to Settings → Appearance and toggling the Use vertical tabs option “off”.

Damn, I’m thick.
Still can’t find what you kindly show on screen.
I’ve looked in the menu, and right-clicked along the top…Nothing.!!!
Perhaps I should try a different browser that will stop pop-ups like the McAfee one i get that takes over half my window grrr
Is there such a browser?

Brave stops pop-ups.

If you’d like to share a screenshot of what you’re seeing after you disable vertical tabs and right-click on a tab I can try and continue to assist you.
