Today I can’t get Brave to search, from my Windows 10 laptop. Any ideas why?

I had the same problem today. In my case the issue was caused by using „duckduckgo“ (don‘t know how or why). I changed to „startpage“, it works. 
I’m having the same problem on my mobile app with both Ecosia and DuckDuckGo…
