Disappearing favicons in sidebar and homepage... bug or a feature?

Description of the issue: I’ve noticed that when I start Brave, certain (seemingly random) favicons from sites I have pinned to the sidebar and home page disappear until I directly visit those sites, or they’re miscolored/not the same as normal. This is annoying, as it’s quite an eyesore, particularly on the sidebar. Does this happen with anyone or am I just experiencing a bug?

How can this issue be reproduced?

1. Add different links to sidebar and homepage
2. Close and restart Brave
3. Visit all of the sites with disappeared favicons once

Expected result: Should cause some of the favicons to disappear or show up as differently than normal, and visiting them should set them back to normal until you next close and restart Brave

Brave Version: 1.47.171

Additional Information: Which sites have this issue seem to be completely random. I can’t seem to isolate what’s causing the problem but I’m guessing it’s either a bug or the way Brave caches those favicons

Hello there @lorewright please accept my apologies for this issue. Can you try disabling Hardware Acceleration in settings to see if this resolves the issue?

You’ll find this in Settings --> Additional Settings --> System --> Hardware Acceleration

Let me know if that works.

Hi, I tried doing so but it didn’t seem to change anything unfortunately.

UPDATE: I think I discovered the solution. I had Brave set to clear browsing history on exit; ever since I turned that off, all of the icons stopped doing that. We’ll see if it stays that way!
