On Kubuntu 20.04, opening Brave in different ways opens a different version of Brave. I currently have two versions open, Version 1.33.206 Chromium 96.0.4664.110(official build) unknown 64-bit and Version 1.34.80 Chromium 97.0.4692.71 (Official build) 64-bit. The former(1.33.206) has media controls in the top panel in Kubuntu while the later version does not.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled with the same issue, in the past.
Brave was only installed via the discover software center.
How can this issue be reproduced?
Open Brave via Latte dock.
Open Brave via Application launcher.
Expected result:
Same version on the browser
Brave Version( check About Brave):
Multiple
Additional Information:
I’ve tried reinstalling in the past and had the same issue. I have the same issue on another PC.
@jdjd1118,
Thank you for reaching out to us. Very strange sounding issue. To confirm, you’re not showing two versions of Brave installed on your system? Further, if you view the list of installed applications on your system, what version of Brave shows?
If I go to Application Launcher->Applications->Internet I see only one instance of Brave. Is there another way I can double check only one version is installed? If I open it from there I have the latest version, [
Version 1.34.80 Chromium: 97.0.4692.71 (Official Build) (64-bit)
But when I open it from Latte dock I get [
Version 1.33.106 Chromium: 96.0.4664.110 (Official Build) unknown (64-bit)
Interestingly though, the latter (1.33.106) has a grayed out Brave icon while the former has the regular orange icon.
