I just saw this news item - is it relevant to Brave/Chromium - how can we judge such concerns?

I’m not sure about that. So let me cc @toml @Mattches on this.
Based on the article, 72.0.3626.121 have a patch for this vulnerability. And Brave 0.60.48 have a Chromium update to this version. https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/releases/tag/v0.60.48
If you upgrade to the latest version of Brave (out now) you will be safe, as we’ve upgraded to Chromium 72.0.3626.121. This was also confirmed by our Chief of InfoSec (@bcrypt on Twitter).
