Brave Wallet: native support TON (Toncoin)

Hello,
TON is the fastest blockchain in the world with a real scalability of over 100k TPS and a finalisation time of 5-6 seconds. The performance has been certified by CertiK and is a lower limit of the blockchain, which is capable of reaching several million TPS when used at full capacity.
Furthermore, TON has been chosen by Telegram as the official blockchain for its Web3 applications.
In all likelihood, this is the only blockchain that can host Web3 and among the few that can implement a trustless p2p payment system.
Therefore, Brave should add this innovative and above all truly functioning blockchain to its wallet.

I admire your enthusiasm for the TON blockchain and its remarkable scalability. It’s truly exciting to see that Telegram has selected TON as the official blockchain for its Web3 applications. While TON shows promise as a blockchain technology, it’s essential to carefully consider all the factors involved in integrating a new blockchain into a wallet.
I can say that at Brave, we are committed to providing our users with a secure and user-friendly experience, and adding new blockchains requires thoughtful evaluation of factors such as security, scalability, and user adoption. While TON may offer unique advantages, it’s crucial to assess it in comparison to other blockchain technologies to determine the best fit for Brave’s users.
Having said that, I value your suggestion, and I will continue to explore the potential of TON and other blockchain technologies. I believe that the development of blockchain software (or how Germans say - Entwicklung von Blockchain-Software) is pivotal in realizing the full potential of blockchain technology. While some blockchain platforms may boast impressive scalability, they may not necessarily meet the requirements of certain use cases, such as security and user adoption.

Thank you for your message. I agree with your analysis, what is missing in the cryptocurrency world to have a blockchain used by the masses is:

  • Scalability: TPS (at least 100 k TPS, better 1 M TPS) and finality time of a blockchain (less than 10 s), on this TON wins out over all of them without problems, read here and here.
  • Ease of use: Telegram with over 800 M MAU has integrated Wallet that works both as custodial and non-custodial through TON Space and supports TON, BTC and USDT (currently on TRON, but in 2024 on TON).
TON is developing a browser for accessing the TON network and the TON Sites, TON Proxy and TON Storage services. Here, too, TON is very well positioned compared to everyone else.
  • Security: here it is very much a question of having sufficient decentralisation, i.e. a high Nakamoto coefficient and multiple and frequent code audits. TON is also positioned very well here and here.

Brave could leverage the TON browser that will be open source to integrate wallet and proxy functionality for accessing the TON network. This would be a fruitful collaboration for both projects.
