I tried using Brave, but after exiting the app, I tried to use it but it won’t open. It kept saying this application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022) I’m using a laptop computer windows 10
I also just recently got this issue. Trying to uninstall the browser and reinstall it gave the error every time I tried to do either. I also went in and tried to clear out the files to give as fresh an install as possible, however the error is persisting between installs and restarts. Event Viewer is also not showing any information on the error as well that I can find
Oh wow. Looks like I’m not the only one. That’s weird. Thanks Anyway.
The strange thing was that it was working just fine yesterday, without any issue. Even sfc didn’t find anything to fix
Yeah. I have the same thing. It was also working fine for me before until now.
Another one here that’s just had the same problem, first thing this morning. I wonder if Micro$oft has altered/updated/borked something with a behind the scenes update to anything that’s causing it such as a runtime file, etc, or maybe somethign to do with windows malicious software removal tools, etc? Windows 10 user here.
OK - don’t know if this is of any help or not, but I just launched Pale moon. After doing so, my Brave browser started working again. Could be coincidence. Could be that something else changed behind the scenes, or it’s just managed to ‘fix’ itself. I also note that my firewall also made a call to windows malicious software remover just now too - so whether that’s related or not?
I’d be curious to know if others here now have Brave magically working again too, or whether installing pale moon does anything to get them going?
The below link solved it for me. I did the first 2 and tried to lauch Brave and Brave did launch, so 3 might not be necessary.

Pale Moon? I have no idea what that is, however this is on win10 and I haven’t tested on my 11 laptop
Pale Moon is another browser based on firefox.
LOL - open up that video and get a Chrome add.
Steps in that video:
-
Run windows troubleshooter.
-
Open up command prompt and run “sfc /scannow”
-
Open up Registry, Backup, and then navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVerseion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform.
Change SkipRearm to 1 and restart your PC.
The first 2 I’m not convinced of. For us to just start having this problem all at the same time, I don’t believe it’s all of us getting a corruption. (Which would seem to agree with it not doing anything for you too)
Item 3 resets the activation grace period for Windows. Sounds very strange to me that windows grace period would be a fix for this, but if it works for others I’d be keen to know. (There’s no point me testing, as mine just seemed to resolve itself).
I feel like this is something else, I’d probably want to see what the Brave team would say about this
Good News. Its back to normal after hours of not working. Brave is finally working for me now. And I Hope it stays that way this time.
So what happened? Concerning that it’s all happened to us at the same time, almost as though there’s something happening in the background that we don’t know about with our browser. I use Brave browser because I don’t trust other ones - so I’m real keen on knowing why this occurred all at the same time.
I was wondering the same thing. What happened? Well, I stayed away from brave for a few hours and when I got back on it, its back to normal. For Reasons, Unknown.
Today I had the same problem.
Even deleting and a new clean installation does not help.
Help!
