Can you clarify a bit on the behavior you’re seeing? Are you saying that you’re able to stream content on youtube for 20 seconds and then it freezes? Or is does something else happen after 20s?

It basically freezes and loads

Have you tried clearing cache/site data for Youtube yet? If not, I’d try this first to se if there’s some “bad data” stuck in the cache causing the issue. To do this quickly:

  1. Launch Brave and visit youtube.com
  2. Click the “tune” icon on the left side of the address bar, then Site settings:
  3. Then Delete data on the next page
  4. Refresh Youtube (you’ll likely have to log back in again)

Try this and then test again to see if the issue persists.

It still doesn’t work.

@MagicRegan can you please go to Menu --> More tools --> Add profile and create a fresh browser profile, close your original profile window, then visit youtube and see if you get the same issue in the new profile?

It still wont work its only brave thats having thr issue

I too have been having this problem, though it is at times intermittent. Not that Mattches gave any of those other steps to me on my post about this.

Fixed the issue by disabling Extension named ‘Iridium for YouTube’ which is a youtube enhancer i was using.

Well I don’t want to install an extension just to fix the issue but if it works then sure, but brave needs to fix this

I disabled the extension. I already had that extension.
Have you downloaded any extension like enhancer for youtube or anyting of that sort??
Disable it and check if the issue persists.

@HamB thank you for confirming. Asking if disabling extensions made any difference was going to be my very next suggestion. Good work resolving the issue.

@MagicRegan can you please try disabling your extensions and tell me if one of them may have been causing the conflict?

@JamiePRose I have responded to your thread.

I literally don’t even have any youtube extensions of some sort nor any suspicious extensions, I have tried to disable all but none have worked

@MagicRegan can I please have you test youtube in a guest profile Menu --> More tools --> Guest profile and tell me if you get the same behavior?

Same thing, it doesn’t work with brave entirely.

I’m at a bit of a loss as to what would be causing this for you at this point. One more test we can perform to prove that the issue on your end is with Brave browser in general would be to try downloading the Beta build of the browser and test Youtube content there.

Note that downloading/installing/running the Beta will not overwrite anything with your current stable Brave installation. It will install and run as a separate browser and once you’re done testing, you’re welcome to uninstall the Beta build.

Ok, It works!! Thank you so much for your persistence!!

@MagicRegan while that’s nice to hear, it isn’t exactly a solution to the issue. It simply means that there is something contained within your Brave stable installation that is causing the issue.

Do you still want to troubleshoot and resolve the issue in your stable install?

Ok now it’s stuck at the same issue in Beta now for some reason.
