Description of the issue: Youtube is showing “ads” before videos. Basically when I start a video, the screen will remain fully blacked for a period of time (generally something like 10sec), the name of the brand will be displayed on the top left and the video will start after that.
Did the issue present with default Shields settings Default Shield settings as well as agressive settings
Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off? Yup it simply become classical Youtube and the ads are showing as they would and not as the screenshot above
Does the ad appear when using a Private window as well? (yes/no) Yes it does, I tried
What OS are you using when you see the ad? Windows 10
Brave version (check About Brave): Currently rocking [
Version 1.70.119 Chromium: 129.0.6668.70 (Build officiel) (64 bits)

I’ve been getting the same problem from about a day and a bit, made a comment as well and waiting for the solution to be found, some people have mentioned it could be from using some extensions so do try with extensions turned off (in my case it didnt work but who knows)
I believe this can help you as it helped me ( from @Saoiray )
@JeJeff but did you try in a new profile or anything? While removing extensions and all might show part of it, there’s other small details checked by having people test in a new profile or private window.
And it’s often that YouTube tries random things to try to slip past detection. It frequently hits just small numbers of people and then tries to grow. It’s not uncommon for people to meet others not having any issues. If that’s what is going on, then I’m sure will be more reports and eventually data will be gathered to update content filters to prevent them.
But it’s always good for each to kind of troubleshoot.
Private (incognito) window: Starts a new session with no cookies and with extensions disabled. Making sure to test this can help to make sure neither cookies nor extensions are at fault. It’s easier to test this way rather than making you delete all cookies and all.
New (test) profile: This lets you preserve your profile and not lose anything. You’re creating a second browser profile that has most of Brave’s settings at default. Of course this also would be no cookies or extensions installed.
If a person tests and one or both of those steps resolve, then it narrows it down a bit. At the very least it helps in trying to point whether it may be something device level causing a problem.
ps( I personally found it easier to just make a new profile since its not difficult / go to menu then near the end is “More tools” press it and then “Add Profile” / but if you want you can use the private tabs for youtube.
If you have saved codes in brave you want to move over to the new profile go to
menu
help
about brave
autofill and passwords (near the end)
password manager (very first option)
Then you will press settings (left side second option)
Then Export passwords (4th option) you will download the file,
then go to the new profile and instead of export it will say import passwords and you just click the file you downloaded.
