Description of the issue:
When I double-click a YouTube video to make the video itself fullscreen, Brave instead enters browser fullscreen mode (like pressing F11). I then have to exit browser fullscreen and double-click the video again to make it go fullscreen properly. This happens every time and doesn’t occur in other browsers.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Open YouTube in Brave.
- Click on any video to start playing it.
- Double-click the video to fullscreen it.
- Observe that the entire browser enters fullscreen instead of just the video.
Expected result:
Double-clicking on a video should fullscreen the video player, not the entire browser window.
Brave Version (check About Brave
):
Brave is up to date
Brave 1.79.126 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Chromium: 137.0.7151.119
Additional Information:
This issue happens consistently every day. I am not trying to keep tabs visible or fullscreen the browser—just the video, like it works in Chrome or Firefox.
i dont understand why wouldnt anyone help me. this is clearly an issue.

I’m not running into this issue at all, and I too fullscreen the same way you do by double-clicking the video image. It goes into proper fullscreen. So I honestly don’t know what I can do to help.
Since you didn’t mention, what operating system are you using? Perhaps adding that will help since every OS handles things a little differently. I’m on Windows 11 build 26100.4484.

I don’t understand either, why not just go fullscreen of video but no it goes for browser mode only. I uploded a picture maybe you can understand better. thanks for your cooperation.
Did you really delete the old post, simply to re-post it 3 times, dinging my notification?
I’ve heard of bumping, but wow, lol.
Anyways, I understood the issue, so the screenshot wasn’t required (but appreciated), but I’m very much not running into that, double-clicking works just fine here. The only thing I can assume is you have an extension perhaps which is causing this, so check there. In the meantime, try a Private Window and see if that behaves differently.
