YouTube creators not coming up in payments screen

#1

Screenshot: see the Youtube urls.

Settings: Payments auto-included; 1 visit/8 seconds.

Stats:Windows 8.1
Intel ® Coe ™ i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00Ghz
64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Brave 0.19.134
rev 316cfa5
Muon 4.5.38
libchromiumcontent 63.0.3239.132
V8 6.3.292.49
Node.js 7.9.0
Update Channel Release
OS Platform Microsoft Windows
OS Release 6.3.9600
OS Architecture x64

This has been happening for a few weeks. Additionally, sometimes my pinned Youtube creator payments will just ‘drop off’. It seems that the ones which drop off, are the ones which the payments system has trouble re-identifying when I visit them again.

Hi @zercher_it

Could you share the URLs for which you’re seeing the odd display for YouTube channels? If you don’t want to post them here, you can private message to me. A few examples which we could use for investigation would be helpful. Thanks!

Hey Lauren, thanks for the reply. The two I’ve noticed are Black Pigeon Speaks (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmrLCXSDScliR7q8AxxjvXg) & Crypto Gurus (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCk-sCVNUeHa2z5HljBvmwZw). They’ve dropped out of my (manually pinned) payments list multiple times now.

FYI, if this helps, these channels have not dropped off at all and I’ve had no issues at all with them:

Caspian Report https://www.youtube.com/user/CaspianReport
Powerful JRE https://www.youtube.com/user/PowerfulJRE

And I was about to say Boxmining, but it’s just dropped off too: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxODjeUwZHk3p-7TU-IsDOA

***OK, I’ve just tested this and worked it out. As you can see, the boxmining URL is different to Caspian Report & Joe Rogan Experience. It’s complex rather than just /user/x. It seems when I access YouTube pages from google with urls like the above, if I’ve added them to my payments list manually, they drop off. I’ve replicated it a few times now. However, if I access the page via a normal URL like youtube.com/user/CaspianReport, it’s fine.

Very interesting @zercher_it - this is great information. Question for you, when you say

Can you clarify what you mean by ‘added them to my payments list manually’? Do you mean ‘pinning’ as you have in your first screenshot or do you mean you were on a page and clicked on the heart icon (as in the screenshot below):

Thanks!

Also, could possibly be related to this: https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/issues/12591

Hello,
on the “Brave Payments” window list “Actions” collumn I have deleted some by mistake instead of ‘select pin’ (icons should not be near between them :o ) …
Now these Authours do not show anymore, How can I undo delete or add them to the list manually ???

Example: How can I re-Add to the list:
The Cryptoverse
"https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLnQ34ZBSjy2JQjeRudFEDw"

Best regards,
Carlos

Hi @cmelx

Please see this post:

Thanks,

Hey, glad it was useful. I don’t use the heart icon- often it seems to stay greyed out, even after watching a video for 8+ seconds. I rely on the auto-include function, & then “pin” the sites I want to donate to from my sites list in payments & then assign percentages myself (that’s what I mean by doing it manually)

Thanks for the clarification. We do have some code changes in this area (specifically related to the display of some youtube channels in the table) currently targeted for our next release which should be soon. Once the next release comes out could you try with that? I’ve been using your provided sites and haven’t reproduced your issue (yet  )

Thanks!

Most sites I follow and ‘play’ on purpose at BRAVE by my choice do not get listed in Payments screen, also some youtuber “CFTP” show me that ‘afiliated’ sites should get a green symbol but I see I have Zero sites with this symbol ( https://youtu.be/aAMW5FBN8nA?t=10m1s )

Brave: 0.19.139
rev: 99aa17da28e040543b4ba217d2c4dd6633bf1446
Muon: 4.7.2
libchromiumcontent: 64.0.3282.85
V8: 6.4.388.20
Node.js: 7.9.0
Update Channel: Release
OS Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS Release: 6.1.7601
OS Architecture: x64

Hi @cmelx

Which of the sites from your screenshot are you expecting to have the green icon with the check mark?

Thanks,
Lauren

#12

example the "https : / / coinmarketcap . com / " is not even listed in my Payments window and is seen at the youtube above (( https : / / youtu be /aAMW5FBN8nA?t=10m1s1 )) …

Also “Ivan on Tech” ( www youtube com /user /LiljeqvistIvan )
“Crypto For The People” ( www youtube com /user /DavisBootCamp )
“Boxmining” ( www youtube com /channel /UCxODjeUwZHk3p-7TU-IsDOA )
“The Cryptoverse” (www youtube com /channel /UCLnQ34ZBSjy2JQjeRudFEDw )

All these sites and youtubers say they are Brave affiliates and I see none in my list of payments…

Could you try this:
Close the Payments page.
Open a new tab, navigate to any site.
Reopen the Payments page.

Let me know if you start to see the verified icon.

Hi @cmelx

I just remembered we have an issue logged for this which is currently slated for an upcoming release (0.20 release): https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/issues/12272

This release is currently in beta.

Thanks,
Lauren

I open and close tabs and Brave many times…
only now I see some websites with the ‘verified’ icon…
Is there anyplace where I can see/browse/check/verify all/any sites have joined Brave/BAT already?
I guess all examples above I have described the authors promoted Brave/BAT system or I know simply because other youtuber demos shows the ‘verified’ icon Brave/BAT.

I whish I could add manually some youtube channel or any other url of my choice to this list…

Thanks for reply…
I wait that next fixes include better control of Brave/BAT payments by the browser user options…

this is not working for Youtube Channels as far as I see it

I deleted one and then was watching this channel again, but it wont show up again

#17

Also Youtube Channels are not removed in my Payments history this month. all “normal” domains are removed and the time it counted again from zero. Youtube Channels just gain more seconds/minutes

therefore it looks like this:
