@SleepyStrategist can you try to update everything in brave://components and see if this issue resolves? I’m assuming I know what your problem is right now, in which case you’re going to tell me it’s unable to update a component and it will show something like Update Error and Version 0.0.0.0, but just wanting to confirm either way.
Oh, and if the above holds true, try to exit Brave and launch Brave as administrator. Then try to go to brave://components and update again.
@Saoiray Thanks for the response and you are 100% correct brave://components is giving Update Error and Version 0.0.0.0. Even after running the brower as administrator did not solve this issue.
I have just reinstalled the browser and it seems to have solved the issue, and in brave://components all the components have appropriate versions, apart from OnDeviceHeadSuggest which has Version: 0.0.0.0.
I’m going to tag in @Mattches and @steeven as I want to bring to their attention again. We keep seeing random people having update errors and I’m hoping they get teams to look into it a bit more and hopefully get a good fix in so it doesn’t keep happening to people in the future. I think the big issue is it’s only a very small subset of people overall having problems, so it’s difficult to narrow down.
