@ciberboy if you go to brave://components and try to Check for update on everything, what does it say? It should say update, up-to-date, or give an error.

Also, is it only YouTube where you see ads or is it all websites?

I’m up to date and the ads themselves are being blocked – but I’m still getting YouTube ad blocker detection notices. Refreshing the page makes it go away for a while, but it’s especially an annoyance when it does it in the middle of a playlist in the background.

Hi

All up-to-date (pressed all the buttons):

I checked on other websites for the picture ads, but I can’t see any. This looks to be localized only for Youtube.

Also, in the last hour I watched other videos, and so far I’m not getting any ads. I don’t know if this is video specific.

I take back what I just said. Got a new ad right now:

I don’t have those warning messages

Hmm. Part of the reason why I asked is some people were getting update errors from where their OS was putting the components folders into admin area only and then couldn’t access them, which stopped Shields from working. But if it’s fetching the updates with no issues, then it seems the issue lies elsewhere.

I do see in the screenshot that you have other extensions. It could be related to that. Or it might be some cookie that needs cleared.

For now, let me ask, if you open in a private window do you see ads as well?

Small Note:

I would Block Fingerprinting

And if you don’t have content filters enabled, you may want to go to brave://settings/shields/filters and enable Fanboy's Annoyances + uBO Annoyances at least. Maybe scroll down and do Brave Experimental Adblock Rules as well, but that one is more iffy. Just to show you what I’m running:

I have the same issue, whenever i press on a youtube video it just loads for 15 seconds

If I log out of YouTube, it loads fine.
If I turn Shields off, it also works - but then I get ads.

Out of curiosity, if you open in a private window but then sign in to Google, does it show ads as well? How about in a new browser profile?

Well i dont see ads, it just loads slowly and gives me the adblocker warning. The adblock warning comes and goes, its a bit random but it looks like this

Also if i logout of youtube it works fine, so not sure what the issue is

@imuhhbob okay, but did you try what I asked?

IIRC, the adblock detector is only operational for logged-in users.

@openrange not quite, but it often is being tied into cookies. As such, often just clearing all Google and YouTube cookies and making sure all the adblock filters are updated is enough. Also using as few extensions as possible, certainly making sure to only have one adblocker.

That said, you are right that Google has been stepping up on things to associate it with accounts. uBlock Origin team as well as others have been investigating this for the past couple months or so. But it doesn’t seem to be happening way too often.

But you can see one of the pinned comments from uBO team below in relation:

:pushpin: Copy of IMPORTANT pinned comment info :pushpin:

The newest round of SSAI ads and anti-adblock is heavily account-related and it seems sharing cookies alone might not be enough anymore.

It means we will unfortunately need somebody willing to volunteer access to their affected account. We know it’s a big ask and we’d really prefer it this wasn’t actually necessary. Alas, that is not the case.

If anybody is willing to cooperate, please modmail us. You can also leave a comment underneath expressing your willingness to do it. If that’ll make you feel more comfortable.

Obviously, for privacy reasons, it’d be best if you were using an entirely separate YT account from your actual google account. While we’re not interested in snooping, it’s still best not to grant anybody access to your private info online. So if you don’t have a separate account that’s affected, yet are still willing to share, please make sure to remove any sensitive data from your account beforehand .

@ciberboy @imuhhbob to be clear, wanting you to check the following (some of which you may have already done, I’m just repeating and showing all steps)

  1. Make sure the browser is updated.
  2. Check for updates at brave://components
  3. Test in a private window to see if it works. Do this not only signed out but then sign into your account on the private window to see if you notice a difference

If it still is having issues after those:

  1. Create a second browser profile. That’s the hamburger menu imageMore ToolsAdd new profile and see if it works there. Make sure not to add any extensions or make any changes. Just simply visit YouTube to see if it works, perhaps also logging into your account.

If that still doesn’t work:

  1. Test on Brave Beta or Brave Nightly to see if you have any issues.

You also might want to check your settings as I referenced in Youtube ads not being blocked anymore [May 2025] - #7 by Saoiray

It only acts strange whenever i log into youtube with my google account in private window, same with new browser profile

Tried all those things, everything is updated

Might just be in relation to the tighter controls of YouTube. Not sure much else can be done, but let me tag in @Mattches to see if he can poke around and maybe find out if Shivan and/or Fanboynz have any ideas. In the meanwhile, might just mean can’t be logged in or something.

Thank you, issue is still persisting. Huge load time when pressing a video and random adblocker warnings.

If I log out of YouTube, it loads fine.
If I turn Shields off, it also works - but then I get ads.

The only other extension I have is Bitwarden which is a password manager and a discounts addon that is disabled. I have these for years working without any issue.

Regarding that filter list, I believe this might be the cause. My list is empty:

Can this be it? If so, how can I fix it?

1 and 2 are done. 3, the ads still show in Private Mode
