Youtube Ad Blocking not working

On YouTube, the built-in adblocker is not working at all. And by that I mean the ads just aren’t being blocked as if I had toggled it off completely. (No “adblockers are not allowed” prompt.) This applies for both the in-video ads and home screen ads.

@WallTermite @Phylos if you both go to brave://components and try to update everything there, does it fail or does it all successfully update?

Some things work, but many fail.

@WallTermite I’m thinking you might be dealing with a known issue where some of the folders on the OS get locked behind admin and you have to reassign to your user level account. Instructions are at https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/38609#issuecomment-2195847971

Similar instructions can be seen at Brave doesn't start when I run it as administrator and Brave Shield doesn't work - #41 by clifton

And just a FYI, in general need to make sure never to launch Brave as administrator.

If that’s too confusing, you could always just uninstall, making sure you choose the checkbox to delete data, such as I show at Brave doesn't start when I run it as administrator and Brave Shield doesn't work - #92 by Saoiray. If you go this route, make sure you have exported your passwords and bookmarks or you have it synced with another device so you can easily import/sync to get your passwords and all back. Otherwise it will all be lost in the uninstall.

For some reason there was no “User Data” file, so I just uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked like a charm. Thank you very much!

I tried this and it worked, it makes a lot of sense because I was messing with the user permissions the first time I got my PC. Thank you very much!
