I would like to see dark mode available so that I can browse in darkly lit environments without the harsh glare of a white screen and I’d also like to save on battery. Thank you,

That’s weird, the iOS version has a dark mode, Are you sure you just didn’t find it?
When using the app, in the settings, in the Display area, the first option I see is Appearance, where I can change it to dark. Maybe you have something similar.
@ajsurf1 if you use the latest version, go to Settings > Appearance > orange box 
I did find the dark mode for android. Thank you for your help
