Why is Brave prompting me to save passwords to Google account?

Description of the issue: Brave started prompting me to login to Google when I save a new password to another site. Not sure if this has something to do with me recently signing up for an account at community.brave.com. Seems like it might, but I have no idea why me wanting to post here would be interpreted as me wanting to save passwords to Google. How do I get Brave to stop doing this? I just want to keep using the Brave sync chain for my passwords.

Steps to Reproduce: Go to a login page on a website. Enter a new username/password. Brave used to simply offer to save the password within Brave, which would then sync to other devices using Brave sync chain. Now it gives me a message about saving it to Google and takes me to a Google login page.

Reproduces how often: Not sure, it’s happened the last two times I put in a new password at a site.

Brave Version 1.77.97 Chromium: 135.0.7049.84 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Brave sync chain being used on multiple Windows 10, and Android devices.

Can you share a screenshot of this? This doesn’t sound like anything that we’d see in Brave. Seeing what you’re talking about directly would be helpful on potentially giving you a good answer.
