I would like to put Brave on my cell phone, but can only do so through google. I have been reading a lot of warnings about google recently, one company reckoned google will be the end of all humanity !

You post and title do not match.
Install via aurora store or direct apk from github. Then you can use ff updater from f-droid to update the apk.
Aurora store is better.
