Mine is gone too, in the last few days some time.
Shift + Cntrl/Cmd+ A
… opens a pane where you can search or organize tabs Saved my bacon!! I had almost 500 tabs open during a research project, not because I was disorganized, but because some time around the same time shortly before by search arrow disappeared, Brave duplicated all my tabs. I’ve been working for days to try to clear the duplicates. With no search function, it was near impossible.
If anyone knows a good way to verify duplicate “pages of tabs” and delete the correct ones, I’d love to hear it!
FYI I found this workaround in the following post. Thanks @filSec Search Tabs window in wrong position with Show tab search button disable
What keyboard shortcuts can I use in Brave?

BRAVE! What the heck! Please bring this feature back. It took up very little real estate and was incredibly useful. I understand I can still get to this with shift-control-a, but the little menu at the far right was much easier to access.
In Brave, go to Settings --> Appearance
, scroll down to Tabs
and ensure that the Show tab search button
is toggled “on”:
Ah, I guess that’s not too bad. Although I did prefer the small down arrow and the fact that it was the farthest thing to the right.
I agree with mlevin. The interface was much more functional before the change. I vote that there be an option to restore the old interface.
I agree!
Why did it have to be changed?
Because other browsers (like Firefox) are doing it in exactly the same way? (I mean, imagine having a standard across all browsers! The very idea!)
It’s much, much less functional now (and I am talking many factors, not fractional)
Change for the sake of change is seldom good, or even desirable. This very much feels like one of those cases…
How so? It still works exactly as it used to the only difference is that the button moved like an inch away. How do you think that that makes it significantly less functional?
Simple: It changed from an obvious, easily accessible feature that has more or less become a standard across multiple browsers to yet another button hidden among the myriad of plugins…
Even ignoring the fact that changing a UI feature without good functional reason is a bad thing to do, the fact that many people open tickets about it should be indicative.
(At least for me) It has gone from an easy to access, extremely often used feature to something hidden elsewhere, away from the TABS it is supposed to search for into the button bar already used for too many other functions.
That disconnect of an unneeded change vs an obvious functional connection itself is, IMNSHO, a poor design decision.
IOW:
When I am dealing with the tabs, I expect to find the functions for that in the tab bar, not between all the other buttons for plugins and extensions.
Solution for chrome but it didn’t work for me in brave.
Doesn’t work in Chrome either when I just was checking. Most likely you just were seeing something that worked in those versions. As Chromium upgrades they have flags stop working.
Maybe it’s like the article said and it’s only a few selected Chrome users that are able to change it. Or something strange.
Unfortunately this is one of those “you’re never going to please everyone” type of situations. For as many people there are here (or anywhere) saying that the “previous interface is better” and “no reason to change it” – there’s just as many people somewhere else saying that they like the change and/or that they didn’t like the old UI.
For now, this is the way the tab search feature is going to work. The only thing that has changed is where the icon is displayed, and the option to choose whether or not the icon is displayed. Other than that, it functions exactly the same as it always has.
I don’t understand why the old way had to be blocked… Give us the option to choose…
no!!! They know better, you need to change your habits!!!
I had no idea that this will push me to look for alternatives. Bye brave.
