Dear JohnDproof Community Ninja
I want to be able to set up 2FA so that I can transfer Brave Rewards earnings to my checking acct. I don’t and never will own one of those smartphones that idiots walk into lamp posts with. I’ve managed to figure out that there is an authenticator in the Brave extensions that I have active, but when I click on the icon in my extensions list I just get a description of what it does.
I downloaded and installed Authy, and got to the point where it asks how I want to get a 2 digit verification code (text, sms or phone call), ask for the phone call, get a 2 digit number, but when I click on the Authy screen I can’t find where to enter the 2 number code ?!. Also, when I’m trying to set up 2FA I get this email asking if its really me and when I click “yes” am given this long code that I’m told to never lose, and have no idea of where to enter it.
It’s very frustrating because I fix my neighbors problems with malware and such, but am TOTALLY unfamiliar with 2FA.
Just in case there is the least possibility of a conflict of some sort, here is the list of my installed Brave extensions:
Authenticator CookieAutoDelete Honey HTTPS Everywhere Malwarebytes Browser Guard NoScript Privacy Badger Self Destructing Cookies
uBlock Origin
My system protection consists of MalwareBytes Premium Lifetime, Heimdahl Thor, Cybereason RansomFree, and SuperAntispyware Lifetime. I also have Hotspot Shield VPN but it is disconnected so as not to interfere with the Stanford University FAH (Folding at Home) protein research project which I have run 24/7 since 2006.
I need to know if the authenticator listed in my installed extensions is referring to Authy or something else ?
If installing Team Viewer so that you can be in my computer to see what’s going on, I would be most happy to do so !
Again, I’m very comfortable with cleaning/optimizing basic system performance, detecting/killing malware --but this enabling 2FA business is apparently far beyond my skill level.
Please, in as great detail as you can, advise what/how to do step-by-step to get 2FA up and functional.
Your time and help will be greatly appreciated !!!
Kind regards and hope to hear from you soon, Peter
