What is this folder and contents?

I was doing some cleanup on my PC and noticed that my folder

C:\Users<—>\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware was way over 2Gb of data.

Then doing more cleanup I find that C:\Users<—>\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default is almost 2Gb

With this folder containing large files.

C:\Users<—>\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\File System

What are this files for? Are we ok to delete them?

Also, what cleanup can be done in here in a safe way?

So what I believe you’re seeing is your cache data. I believe you can simply clear this in-browser safely by going to Settings --> History --> Clear browsing data and selecting Cookies and site data.

There are also some sites that I believe use this to store temporary file information which may be contributing to the large size. I would try clearing browsing data via the browser itself first and see if the files disappear/the size decreases. Let me know if it does not.

I deleted Browsing History, Cached Images and Hosted Apps. And the file is still there and the size is the same.

I didn’t delete 41 Site and Shield Settings and neither deleted 607 Cookies and sites data.

I guess I could delete the file manually and see if anything breaks, and if so restore it.
