Weird autocomplete entries "google.com______"

Description of the issue:

When typing “:g” in the addressbar, it shows a bunch of “google.com_________” entries. Deleting those autocomplete entries will only prevent those nonsense entries for a short period of time. Somehow they return or get into the autocomplete cache. The amount of underscores differs from entry to entry. Over time there are dozens of those weird entries.

The really annoying part is not the optical distraction, but if I actually wanted to open “google.com” instead of googling via “:g”, from time to time autocomplete actually uses one of those weird address entries.

Just in case someone wonders: I am absolute certain, that I do not enter “google.com_________” dozens and dozens of times so that brave saves my typed addresses into autocomplete.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. type “:g” in the address bar
  2. See “google.com__________” entries in autocompletion

Expected result:

No weird autocomplete entries like “google.com________”, but only “google.com
