In last couple of months only, when I go to websites, mostly a rubbish screen appears I often have to refresh. This never happened prior.
Example: See attached photo of wrong screen for www.news.com.au
Brave Version: all latest in last 2 months
Reproducible on current live release (yes/no): Yes
@sidrey,
Apologies but it looks like the screenshot you took did not get uploaded with your post — can you please resubmit it?
Sorry for slow reply. Refer re-attached as requested. I’m not sure why my previous file attachment didn’t upload it was just a jpg photo.
I have tried things like re-installing Brave, then inside Settings “Reset Brave” and “About Brave”. They all help, but only briefly when same problem resumes after a while.
I also tried rebooting - no better.
I only have 1 extension - OneTab.
Google Chrome has no such problems.
Anyone there? Any help appreciated
Can you please try launching a Guest Profile (Menu --> More tools --> Guest profile
), close your original profile window, then try to visit that site (and/or any others you’re seeing this issue with) and test to see if you get the same results?
Hi. As usual this option worked, but when I woke up and tried again, the problem happened again. Sometimes it happens for a website, but when I close it and start it again it often (bit not always) works fine. It is a regular intermitant problem.
BTW I assume “original profile window” means close the main version of Brave, because at this point, there is only Brave and the new Profile. So when I close Brave, and try to open it again, it keeps taking me to the Profile… ie I have lost Brave, so I had to reimport all favorites, and OneTab (but onetab even when installed doesn’t show up), and back to my settings (eg keeping tabs when I come back in). How do I get out of Profile, and back to original Brave which seems lost?
@sidrey you may have gone to Add profile
instead of Guest profile
so you’re likely signing into the new one that you’d created. To go back, simply click the profile icon on the top-right of the browser, click Manage profiles
(gear icon), then delete the extra profile.
For example, for me, I have one extra profile here — in creating it, the default profile I was using is now labeled Person 1
. If I delete the Shieldstest
profile, it leaves only the default profile:
As for your issue, I would wager that the OneTab extension is what’s causing this issue. Can you please try disabling it for a time and test to see if the behavior persists?
Hi, I disabled all the profiles, but Brave then loaded ok. However I lost all my settings, that I last had, so I will will need to reimport and do all preferred settings. Then I will try without OneTab, which is sad as it is a handy utility to avoid having dozens of tabs open at same time, and OneTab has great reviews, and I don’t have this refreshing problem using Google Chrome. Anyway I will try without OneTab and see how it goes.
Hi, it worked well for a couple of hours (without OneTab), but now I am having the same refreshing problem regularly, so it doesn’t seem to be caused by highly regarded OneTab, fortunately. Anything else?
To recap, often I try to load a number of websites, they do not load properly - requiring a refresh, sometimes a second refresh.
This problem has only occurred in the last month - I have used Brave in last 2 years, and never a problem then.
I have tried, without success:
-re-installing Brave
-inside Settings “Reset Brave” and “About Brave”
-rebooting
-uninstalling only Extension called OneTab, which has great reviews and no mention of this Brave problem.
-launching Guest Profile
I note I have no such problem using Google Chrome.
Any suggestions?
… also some of these choices actually work for a while, and then problem re-surfaces.
It seems the problem only happens when I use default Brave home page, but when I change home page to google the problem doesn’t happen.
