Fix
Turn Shield off and the website works and the tab is closeable. + Clickable links.

@Creative,
Do you know exactly what reproduces this? I was able to visit the site and I saw the same behavior your describe, but after visiting a second time was able to navigate the web page without issue.

Uncloseable tab/window:
Hmm. I can’t reproduce it anymore, tried upgrading to Version 0.72.62 Chromium: 77.0.3865.90 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit) and can’t reproduce it here either. This is really weird I had this issue for more than 2 weeks.

Unclickable links:
Try visiting vg.no with Brave Guard on with scripts blocked and see if this will cause the links to become unclickable - Either the links becomes unclickable or the entire browser just loads indefintely until crash

@Creative,
Many sites will break when scripts are blocked – that’s to be expected. However, with that said, I was still able to view and navigate the site (mostly, scripts disabled some functionality) as intended with scripts blocked.

Hi, @Creative. Your Nightly and Windows are both a bit out of date, but that doesn’t seem to matter in this case since I observed similar behavior with more recent versions in two OSs. Turning scripts for the site to “Allow scripts once” appeared to fix the issue for me. Here’s where to do it if you don’t know (click image to enlarge):

@Mattches, I tried the site with Brave 0.72.79 Chromium: 77.0.3865.90 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit), macOS Version 10.14.6 (Build 18G95), as well as 0.72.83 Chromium: 77.0.3865.90 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit) on Windows 10 Version 1903 (Build 18362.356), and couldn’t click anything on the landing page in either case. In fact, the scroll bar’s thumb got smaller and smaller, so I checked Brave’s Task Manager on both machines and found the site was taking HUGE CPU time:

My guess is their infinite scroll breaks because of Shields, so it tries to load ALL of the articles it can on initial load instead of a bit at a time as one scrolls. That might make the OP’s browser non-responsive, too, no? I know it at least delayed tab closure for me. This is bolstered by the fact that changing the scripts setting for the page to Allow scripts once appeared to fix the issue for both machines.

Many sites will break

Is this related to the bug that crashes the browser when the pagefile or ram is almost full? :thinking:
