"We had a server error" in Reddit Desktop only in Brave

Description of the issue:
I have been getting the dreaded “We had a server error” in Brave (desktop/Mac), but only with one of my 3 macs (Mac Mini M4 Pro). On the other Macs I don’t see this behavior. It doesn’t appear in either Safari or Chrome, nor does it appear in Brave when I browse with a private window.

I’ve tried disabling all extensions, but that doesn’t seem to fix the issue. Any thoughts about things to try would be appreciated.

How can this issue be reproduced?
Not sure how to respond here

Expected result:
“We had a server error” doesn’t appear
Brave Version( check About Brave):

Version 1.73.105 Chromium: 131.0.6778.265 (Official Build) (arm64)

Any chance, somehow you managed to get and install . . .

Reddit for Desktop (Reddit as a desktop app)

https://github.com/OlegMatuykin/Reddit-desktop

Excerpt:

Reddit for desktop is the same Reddit but for Windows as desktop application.

It is a Reddit client for browsing Reddit on Windows.

Thanks for your very extensive reply.

I have not installed Reddit for Desktop. From your excerpt, this seems to be a Windows app, so I don’t think I can install it on my Mac to run your “Second test set.”

After further investigation, I have learned that what I wrote in my additional post is not fully accurate (at the time I didn’t know that!).

In all browsers, whether in a normal window or a private window, as soon as I login to Reddit, I get the “we had a server error” message. Also any time I try to post, I always get back a message that the post was removed by the Reddit filters. I only joined Reddit about a week ago, and I was able to make two posts in a particular subReddit (r/Backblaze), and then about a day later, I started getting this error message plus the inability to successfully create a post.

All of this is in the new Reddit. I will try the old Reddit shortly and report back.

Thanks again

Since the “We had a server error” appears only on Brave in your Mac Mini M4 Pro, try these steps: Clear cache and cookies (Settings > Privacy > Clear Browsing Data), disable hardware acceleration (Settings > System), and reset Brave settings to default. If that doesn’t work, reinstall Brave or create a new user profile on your Mac Mini to check for system-specific conflicts.

It turns out I was wrong that it was only in brave that I received the error message. I was only logged in Reddit in a normal brave window. With any browser I tried (brave, chrome, Firefox, and Safari), once I logged in with my Reddit credentials, whether in a normal or private window, I got the dreaded “We had a server error” message.

I just tried creating a reply to a post in OLD Reddit, and that was successful. I’m not sure how to interpret the data I have. In all browsers I’ve tried, Reddit works as expected when logged into old Reddit, doesn’t work in new Reddit, but worked for a few days in new Reddit and now for several days has not.
