Want to restore all the deleted profiles

I accidentally uninstalled the brave app on my windows 11 laptop. I had multiple profiles in it and I am unable to recover them by all the possible methods listed by various people. I really need those profiles back as I has some important data in it. Please help me out with this.

@qwfbt ,

There are SOMETIMES data recovery procedures, BUT you must have NOT overwritten where the data was.

Much depends upon you knowing where the data was.

The important BraveSoftware folder location:

Linux OS: /home/[username]/.config/BraveSoftware/

Mac OS: /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware/

Windows OS: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\

When you locate that folder, Copy it to an external USB drive.

Two years ago, for Windows OS users, using the RECUVA application from CCleaner, @CerealLover posted a How to recover bookmarks but no guarantees:

Reinstall previous version of Brave - #3 by CerealLover

BUT, some say that the CCleaner application itself, cannot be trusted . . . just so you know. I do not know of a connection between RECUVA and CCleaner applications.

I tried checking for the data here -
C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware
[/quote]
But to my luck, there was no data found. I tired recovering the previous version but sadly it also didn’t have the data.
I am really confused and need help.

My suggestion is RECUVA:

A guide I found online:

Brave Browser installation location on Windows OS

Application “brave.exe”

64 architecture

C:\Program Files\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application\brave.exe

The initial Brave Browser Profile is, by default, named “Profile 1” (unless you change that name → brave://settings/getStarted).

The folder that contains the initial Brave Browser Profile, is the Default folder (a name that you must not change):

C:\Users[UserName]\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\

That path may also be written:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\

If you create 1 additional Profile (aka “Profile 2”), it will be stored in folder Profile 1:

C:\Users[UserName]\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Profile 1\

If you create a 2nd additional Profile (aka “Profile 3”), it will be stored in folder Profile 2:

C:\Users[UserName]\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Profile 2\

IMPORTANT - Replacing Profile folders

When replacing Brave Browser Profile folders:

Folder named Default (including its contents) can only replace its likeness: the folder named Default.

Folder named Profile 1 (including its contents) can only replace its likeness: the folder named Profile 1.

Folder named Profile 2 (including its contents) can only replace its likeness: the folder named Profile 2.

IMPORTANT - Brave Browser Preferences

Some Brave Browser Preferences are stored in the Preferences file:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Preferences

The contents of that Preferences file, are not exactly the contents of, brave://prefs-internals/.

Some Brave Browser Preferences are stored in the Local State file:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Local State

Bookmarks and Bookmarks.bak files:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Bookmarks
%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Bookmarks.bak

Cache (folder):

%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Cache\

Cookies (file):

%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Cookies

History (file - usually lots of data):

%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\History

Crash Reports:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\CrashReports\

Yeah if you’ve already deleted the data then the only way to recover it would be to use a system restore point to restore your system back to a point in time in which those profiles were available.

I tried restoring the pointers, but it didn’t work. It shows that there are no pointers available.
Any other suggestions?

Unfortunately no, there’s nothing you can do at this point. You’ve deleted the data you’re looking for and without a restore point there’s no way to undo this deletion.
