Wakelet extension does not work

Description of the issue:
I have installed the Wakelet browser extension (https://wakelet.com/) which stores summaries of websites in a curated personal space. A click to the extension does nothing at all, but afterward, the page is locked and I have to reload the page.

Exact URL of the website in question:
The problem exists with every web page. I have tested it with https://brave.com/

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no)
Yes

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off?
Yes

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no):
Yes: it works when Shield is on but all cookies are allowed.

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome?
Yes

Brave version (check About Brave):
Version 1.0.1 Chromium: 78.0.3904.108 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit)

I installed the same extension in Brave, and Chrome. When I open a new tab, I get https://wakelet.com/home instead now. (seems the same)

No action on left mouse click on the extesnsion icon itself (in Brave and Chrome), but does have a right-click context menu,

I’m not actually seeing a difference between Chrome and Brave, I’m not a user of this application, but if you give me something else to test?

@petzi please also check the reviews for this extension. This seems to be a bug.

Yes: https://wakelet.com/home and https://wakelet.com/ does not matter.

To experience the problem I have reported you have to go to a web page and store this page via Wakelet. It is a two-click action: One for calling the action of the Wakelet extension and one to store it in one of your collections.

Working from the Wakelet homepage does work in Brave but it is much more cumbersome action: You have

  • to find and open the desired collection where the page should be stored
  • to click the button “Edit Collection”
  • to click the + button to add a URL
  • go to the page you want to store and copy the URL
  • go back to Wakelet and paste the URL
  • click the “Save and exit” button

Instead, call Wakelet directly from any web page directly.

Thanks for the hint. I read all reviews but could not find my reported problem. There is a reference to another problem with Wakelet: You can’t have installed Wakelet and at the same time to get the Brave start page in a new tab. Either you prefer to get the Wakelet home page with every new tab or when you disable Wakelet extension for new tabs then you will get the Google search page. But I think this is not related to the more general problem that you can’t invoke Wakelet from web pages directly.

@petzi I’m sorry for not getting it right. At this moment I think of 3rd-party-cookies which the extension needs to be fully functional. As long as the extensions-dev. won’t change anything here, the issue will remain present.

So I created 2 posts;

Both successful with shields

I can’t open your link. Presumably, your Wakelet is not open to the public.

Please tell me:

Did you use the browser extension? (You were on the page which you wanted to store, and you clicked on the browser extension?)
You had shields turned on with Brave standard configuration?

If so, I do not know what could be different between our two situations/actions. Any ideas? (I am using macOS Catalina 10.15.1)
