VPN connection prompting for pw, but was never able to set one up?

Type of device: MacBook Pro MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2

Brave version: N/A this is an issue with the account UX itself and the purchasing of the Brave VPN, but just in case here is that info:
Version 1.77.100 Chromium: 135.0.7049.100 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Detailed description of the behavior: I purchased Brave VPN.. downloaded the Brave VPN Config file… and was up and running on it for 2 days before it suddenly began propmting me for a password… which is odd because when I signed up, it only ever gave me a login link sent to my email address, but never asked me to setup any account password. I also never received an invoice #, which is required to fill out the support form at the top of this ticket input window…

Additional details: So far I’ve been unsuccessful in finding any way to “reset” or set my password. This functionality seems to not be present in any of my brave account pages or links, and I’ve been unable to find anything like it when performing searches via Google or Brave, or by looking around inside the browser itself…

Hello! Sorry for the trouble. Please try disabling Reconnect Automatically and this should resolve the matter. It’s a known issue. https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/41209

It doesn’t look like I have that option anywhere in my network / vpn settings within Mac OS:

I updated the OS just now and it still isn’t showing any options to disable “auto reconnect” anywhere within the network or VPN settings that I can see.

This has been disabled the entire time:

Hello!

There are two separate known issues with password prompts showing up on macOS with the Brave VPN. Are you able to provide a screenshot of the actual password prompt that you are receiving on your device?

Since you noted that you do not have the “reconnect automatically” option enabled, the password prompt you are getting might be resolved by deleting the Brave VPN profile from your system settings, rebooting your device, and then try to connect within the Brave browser to reinstall a fresh VPN profile.

This password prompt is not being served directly from Brave and is likely a system dialog box which makes it a bit trickier to navigate. This is to assure you that you are correct in that you do not have a password to access Brave VPN nor is one necessary.
