Vimium "yank" not working in Brave Browser

Description of the issue:
I am having issues with the “yank” functionality in Vimium for Brave. Currently, Vimium provides the following functionality:

  • Copy the current URL to the clipboard - yy
  • Copy a link URL to the clipboard - yf

However, when I press yy the extension does report that the value of the URL has been yanked: see this for a screenshot. Sames applies for yf as well, when I enter yf and choose a link, it reports saying the desired link has been yanked: see this for a screenshot.

However, when I try to access the clipboard using CMD + v – the value of the clipboard is not the one yanked by Vimium, rather it contains the old value (the texts that I manually copied using CMD + c or Right-click -> Copy Link Address

How can this issue be reproduced?
“Yank” a URL (using either yy or yf), go to another tab, and use CMD + v to paste the URL to test if Vimium modified your clipboard by placing the yankied URL.

Expected result:
When I “yank” something using Vimium, the value should be copied to my clipboard so that I can later use CMD + v to paste the URLs yanked by Vimium.

Have you tried reaching out to them?

No, not yet. I thought this was some issue with the Brave browser integration (since I couldn’t find any open issues for this version yet).

With any extension issue, best to raise it with the extension author for them to reproduce the fault and see if there is a work around.
