Viewing Passwords Should Require a Password

I just have set my default iOS browser to Brave. But I am concerned because the Settings > Passwords are viewable without a master password, even after deleting the Brave tab in the Application Manager. That is very insecure. Can that be changed without having to use biometric ID for all access to Brave?

IPhone 8s Plus /iOS 16.4.

@RcGordon not sure what you’re talking about. If you go into Settings → Passwords you can see websites listed, but you can’t see a single one of your passwords. If you try to Copy or Reveal any of the passwords, it requires you to use your biometric ID or device pin/password to see it.

So what you have is:

  1. Your device should be locked at all times when not in use. If they can’t unlock, they can’t get into anything.

  2. When you try to view or edit in Brave, it requires the pin or biometrics

  3. As you hinted, you can always choose to set things on iOS so apps can’t be opened without a password.

NOTE
You didn’t provide details as to which version of Brave you’re using. I know iOS 16.4 is quite a bit outdated, with current being 18.3

I do know your iPhone 8 is not supported anymore for iOS updates. I’m not sure if that means you can’t update your app either. If you can’t update and you’re using an outdated version, then this might explain a bit why you have a misunderstanding of things and all I can say is you should try to get something capable of updates when you can.

You’re right. I was too quick, and noticed that the sites and login names were visible (unlike Chrome), but the passwords require Reveal to be shown.
