Video Downloader Professional Extension No Longer Works in Brave – Any Solutions? I have an idea

One of my favorite browser extensions, Video Downloader Professional Plugin, has stopped working in Brave due to new Chrome restrictions.

This extension was incredibly useful because it added a download label to every video and image on Instagram.com, allowing me to save them with just one click. I really loved this feature, but now it’s no longer functional.

Apparently, Chrome introduced new rules that prohibit extensions from downloading videos from Instagram. When I try to use the extension, I get an error message that directs me to this page:

:point_right: Video Downloader Ultimate - Chrome Extension Information

The message (originally in German) translates to:

“Downloading videos from Instagram is disabled!

Extensions from the Chrome Web Store are not allowed to download videos from Instagram. Therefore, we had to remove this functionality for the Chrome Web Store.

We hope for your understanding. Please do not rate us poorly for this reason!”

This raises two questions:

  1. Can Brave re-enable this feature or support the extension developers to make it work again in Brave?

  2. Wouldn’t it be great if Brave had a built-in feature like this? Imagine an overlay appearing whenever a video is detected, allowing users to download it directly.

This would be a fantastic addition to Brave’s feature set. What do you all think? Is there any possibility of this happening? :rocket:
